1. The cracks are deep
If you have cracks in your concrete driveway, it’s important to pay attention to how deep they are–especially if you live in a colder climate where the freeze-thaw cycle of concrete can have devastating effects.
If the cracks are only surface level, you might be able to get away with just repairing them.
However, deep cracks and potholes can’t always be repaired. If either of these begin to form, we probably don’t need to tell you that it’s time to replace your driveway altogether.
2. It’s approaching 30 years of age
If your driveway is approaching 30 years of age, it’s probably time to replace it.

But typically, around the 30-year mark, you’ll likely notice quite a few signs of wear and tear, such as cracks, crumbling, and staining. This is a good indication that you’re due for a replacement driveway.
3. There’s standing water
Standing water on concrete should never be ignored. It’s a sign that your concrete is sinking, which can become a major issue and is definitely cause for replacement.
When standing water remains on your concrete, it can weaken the driveway even further and create even more potholes or cracks. Not to mention, water can also penetrate the foundation and cause it to fail.
